Glenn Allyn – Aviation Leader & Entrepreneur
A native New Yorker, and Resident of Miami, Glenn Allyn is a seasoned, elite pilot and visionary entrepreneur whose career spans the legal profession, real estate, and his passion, aviation. Glenn attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Management. He holds a J.D. degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School in New York City.
Glenn began his career as a sales manager at an automobile dealership in Nyack, New York, after graduating from college.
Upon graduating from law school, he worked for various prestigious law offices in New York City and White Plains, including as a partner at two of the firms. Glenn’s extensive legal experience focused on aviation law and ski/ski area liability. One of the first cases he worked on early in his law career involved reinsurance issues involving both the Korean Airlines Flight 801 and Pan Am Flight 103 crashes.
His involvement in the ski industry was instrumental in his work as an attorney, particularly when handling liability cases. Glenn was a former certified assistant coach to the US Ski Team and race coach of competitive youth skiers (ages 12-15). He was also a prior PSIA Examiner training ski instructors and certifying them.
Glenn’s career also included 15 years in real estate as a builder and developer and property manager of commercial and residential properties.
Elite Aviation Experience & Certifications
Glenn is among the top-tier experienced aviators globally, with over 30,000 flying hours and no reported accidents. This includes more than 22,000 hours as the lead pilot. He has ratings in a number of jet aircraft and flies both helicopters and airplanes. He has over 2500 hours of helicopter flying time.
A Part 135 Certificate Operator with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Glenn is authorized to operate charter flights, air taxi services, or on-demand commercial operations. He has authored numerous manuals, including DOT commuter applications, Canadian AOC applications, SMS, emergency response plans, HZMAT plans, drug manuals, and other documentation. Glenn is also a PC-12 check airman and ground and flight training instructor in the PC-12 aircraft.
Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority Commercial operations certificate. Glenn is the Co-owner of Dowden Aviation a Grenadian based, Caribbean commercial operator. He acts as director of operations for this certificate as well as a check airman, and training instructor for the R44 helicopters with this operation.
Over 30 Years of Aviation Experience – Co-Owner of Flying Zebra
Glenn Allyn has decades of experience in the cockpit and aviation business, having logged thousands of flight hours and managed multiple operations. His expertise includes private jet piloting, helicopter piloting, aircraft management, and aviation consultancy. In 2018, Glenn co-founded Flying Zebra. Flying Zebra provides private aircraft charter services, aircraft sales, and aircraft management. Flying Zebra is well recognized as perhaps the best PC-12 operator on the East Coast of the United States.
Based at the Westchester County Airport (KHPN), and with a base at the Florida Miami/Opa-Locka Airport (KOPF).
His Passion: Aviation
Glenn’s love of flying was the impetus behind his aviation journey and his ultimate career trajectory, which ultimately landed him as the owner of Flying Zebra and Co-owner and founder of Dowden Aviation in Grenada.
He began his career as a part owner of a small airport in Northern New Hampshire and running a part 135 Twin engine aircraft operation. He then went to work with Northeast Jet in Allentown, Pennsylvania, as a co-pilot and then as a captain in Learjets.
For five years, Glenn was an Aircraft Sales and Broker/Sales Associate at Best Jets, Inc., as an aircraft broker in the sales and purchases of jets, turboprops, multi-engine and single engine aircraft, seaplanes, and helicopters. He was responsible for all phases of aircraft transactions.
Glenn currently is an aircraft broker with expertise in the Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, Lear 60, and Cessna Citations (all models).
Leadership & Operational Excellence
Over the last seven years, Glenn has been at the helm of Flying Zebra, based at Westchester County Airport (KHPN) in New York. Flying Zebra offers flights to and from airports in the contiguous United States, Canada, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. Its fleet consists of Pilatus PC-12/45, Pilatus PC-12/47, and Pilatus PC-12 NG aircraft. The private air carrier, under Glenn’s leadership, is recognized and known for its aviation excellence, which includes safety and customer service.
His knowledge also extends to tax implications involving the purchase or leasing of aircraft, as well as aircraft operating deductions, risk analysis, and risk management.
In addition to serving as the Director of Operations, and former Chief Pilot at Flying Zebra, Glenn’s responsibilities include ensuring compliance with aircraft maintenance, insurance, and pilot training requirements; overseeing charter sales and scheduling; tracking aircraft; managing warranty programs; maintaining records; coordinating aircraft management; and leasing managed aircraft.
Glenn was also the lead test pilot for the Tamarack active winglet certification for the Cessna CJ series aircraft.
Beyond Aviation
Along with his passion for aviation, Glenn is an active GP style motorcycle track rider, riding the Aprilia RS660 and RSV4. He was a former professional skier competing in both alpine and freestyle events. A former ski race coach and PSIA examiner. He was a manufacturers representative for Head and Stockli skis.
